Public Safety is Priority #1

Policing communities in the 21st century is complicated, and every police officer with tell you that. There are a lot of things that are outside of Oakdale’s control, but for the elements of public safety that we can impact, Oakdale should be 2nd to none.

Here’s what we can do:

  1. Remodeling and expanding our police station, making officers more efficient, and reducing wear and tear on police vehicles.

  2. Rolling out Oakdale’s first body-worn police camera program, offering officers AND the community added transparency and peace of mind.

  3. Help officers by growing our grassroots neighborhood safety efforts, like the Neighborhood Watch Program.

Budget with Common Sense

With inflation at levels not seen in decades and wages not keeping up with life’s costs, Oakdale needs to keep its ‘smart budgeting’ strategy going. Ways we can do this include: using existing funds to purchase needed equipment and vehicles (instead of putting on the city’s credit card and paying a decade’s worth of interest), investing in our current staff (and avoiding unnecessary turnover and lost productivity), and expand our partnerships with neighboring cities, to lower operational costs.
